This article examines the capacity-building potential of online training platforms for professionals in the library and information science profession. The study compares online training platforms to more conventional methods of capacity building and looks at their benefits and drawbacks. The usefulness of online training platforms in enhancing the skills of librarians, as well as their usability, affordability, and capability to deliver specialized learning experiences, were discussed. It also looks at how online learning environments affect librarians' capacity to grow professionally and create new skills and abilities. According to the study, online training platforms can help librarians become more capable by giving them access to a variety of learning resources and possibilities for professional growth. It can create avenue to network and collaborate with other professionals in different locations and climes. The challenges of using online platforms for training and professional development were also looked at and recommendations were made on how LIS professionals can best utilise these platforms for professional development.
