Abstract

The study examined The Impact of Knowledge Management Practice in University Medical
Libraries in Bayelsa State, Nigeria. Four research questions guided the study. The population of
the study was 22 librarians as respondents. Data were collected using a researcher-structured
questionnaire. The findings include the ways of creating knowledge to effect librarians service
delivery to include: knowledge management practice helps the librarians to be active in
improvising information materials needed for learning; Knowledge sharing allows librarians to
exploit on knowledge-based resources; It helps in reducing educational costs; Knowledge transfer
practice assists librarians in promoting independent learning; Equips librarians with the right
skills to transfer knowledge into practice, amongst others. The study concluded that proper
knowledge management builds up adequate skill development and positive ideas in the librarians
that knowledge creation will enhance their effective service delivery.
